The sun is the ideal source of energy to heat water in swimming pools: comfortable, reliable and perpetual. At the same time, the sun also contributes substantially to the reduction in the costs of energy, because less gas is required to heat the water.
Various swimming pool owners have already discovered that the use of solar power gives benefits:
- Lower energy costs because the heating boiler provides no or little additional heating.
- The use of solar power is an environmentally-friendly way of heating the water in swimming pools.
- Extension of the swimming season by two months (in comparison to an unheated open-air pool).
In addition, solar-power systems require little or no maintenance. Opting for a solar-power system therefore means opting for future-orientated and cost-effective technology, without making concessions in terms of comfort.
Solar Collector: heat all of the time!
The most important part of a solar-power system is the collector, which converts sunlight into heat. Collectors can be placed either on the roof or on the ground. Even when the sky is cloudy, the collectors are still able to supply heat. They have, in fact, been built in such a way that they convert light into heat. If the sun shines in abundance, the water will heat up quickly. If it is cloudy, it will take a little longer for the water to reach the required temperature. Collectors supply sufficient heat to, for example, keep an outside pool at a pleasant temperature for almost the whole swimming season, or to contribute to heating the water in an indoor swimming pool throughout the year.
