Kalzip insulation products conserve energy through their use by reducing the requirement to heat or cool buildings, limiting CO2 emissions.
They are also HCFC and HFC free and have a global warming potential (GWP) rating of less than five.
The most common insulation used is a quilt type, non-hygroscopic material that will not absorb any moisture, but simply retain it on the surface of the mineral wool thus encouraging evaporation to take place.
The use of a compressed insulation, completely filling the roof void above the vapour control layer, together with the breathability of the Kalzip sheet seams, negates the need for a breather membrane material within the Kalzip roof system.
