When the loads to be borne are high or concentrated at one point, a possible solution is to use rigid inclusions on the soil as a technique for improving the soil.

These are concrete pieces (which may be reinforced) that spread the loads they bear across shanks as they do not necessarily have to be supported on resistant terrains.
