Applicable to very soft to medium soft silty or clayey soil treatment and heterogeneous backfill improvement.
Stone columns can be either wet or dry installed.
Nowadays, except in very specific cases, the dry method is used, where vibration drilling is performed with compressed air. No water is required so that sludge management is no longer necessary and the need to maintain the esplanade is drastically reduced. Furthermore, the stone is inserted through the vibrator, so that the operations of removing and reinserting the vibrator are avoided, as well as guaranteeing that the column is suitably continuous.
