The Prefa shingles and the Prefa tiles are identical for material quality and colour. As the latter, the shingles are fit for renewal or for new coverings: they weigh 2.3 Kg/m2, they require 10 shingles per sqm and are often used for old wooden trusses still intact. Like the saddle joint system, their patented fixing system guarantees them against thunderstorms and other weather agents.
loft structure
Pay attention to the good preparation of the loft with a minimum slope starting from 25° = ca. 45%. The Prefa shingles, unlike the Prefa tiles, can be mounted exclusively on a solid planking. It is advisable to use an asphalt paper without sandblasting as a dispersion strip.
levelling and assembly direction
The assembly direction must be from the right to the left due to the shape of the shingles. You can choose an assembly starting from the centre-line or from three quarters of the shingle in order to affect the roof optics. The shingles are fixed by means of a staple fixed with a 28/25 hot-galvanised nail.
