Upofloor’s ESD-floorings are created for especially demanding use. They conduct static charges, thus protecting sensitive electronic components from discharges of static electricity. Our ESD-floorings meet the ESD-protected area requirements in accordance with the IEC 61340-5-1 standard.

These floorings are suitable for use in e.g. the product development and production facilities of the electronics and telecommunication industry, test laboratories, operating theatres and other surgical areas in hospitals, munitions industries and locations with computers or sensitive measuring devices.

ESD
Manufacturers and users of information technology devices are familiar with the sensitivity of semiconductor circuits to discharges of static electricity. This is termed electrostatic discharge (ESD), and may, at worst, cause serious operating problems or damage to equipment.

EPA, ESD-Protected Area
An area protected from ESD: an area, in which ESDS (Electrostatic Discharge Sensitive devises) can be handled with minimum risk of damage resulting from electrostatic discharge or fields, and in which the operator is not exposed to additional risk.
