Definition
Freespan is an economical truss system for arched or double tapered roof systems. Glued derived timber boards are used in the construction in place of expensive steel components (e.g. steel binders). Freespan is a patented system designed by WIEHAG engineers and has already won a number of awards.
Advantages
Light-permeable
Additional installations (ventilation systems, fire detection systems, electrical installation lines) can be installed at the level of the support structure; this ensures optimum utilization of the available height
A perfect balance between the dead weight and the load-bearing capacity makes it ideal for very high bearing distances
Highly economical, due to avoiding costly steel components
