Who we are

Former Industria per l’Arredamento S.p.A., was established in the year 1967. In that year the craftsman experience  of the Fumagalli family, which date back to the beginning of the twentieth century, turns into an industrial activity. The covered  production facility little by little has reached an area of 13,000.00 sqm. Former has always produced modular systems for both the day and night area featuring design, innovation, technological precision and craftsmanship. Among these, Euro, Zeronove and Plinto were the most successful.

Today Former’s mission is to turn its products into architectonical elements able to be used instead of walls to divide a house: flexibility and innovation for a tailor made design furnishings: Set System and Plinto 1.6, modular systems for the day area; APP (Architectural Partition Project) wardrobes, which are not the traditional container or walk-in closet, but a system that can be used on both sides, front and back, becoming itself a space divider.

Former’s present production is  divided into stackable piece of furniture for the day  area, including wall systems, sideboards, tables and chairs, and comprehensive programs to furnish the night area among which beds, night tables, chest of drawers, mirrors, lounge chairs and, last but not least, the APP (Architectural Partition Project) wardrobe and walk-in closet system.

The Cantù based company works with prestigious designers, such as: Ricardo Bello Dias, Francesco Bettoni, Pinuccio Borgonovo, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Marzia e Leonardo Dainelli, Sung Sook Kim, Roberto Lazzeroni.

Former’s production, typically residential, is nowadays exploring the contract market, both hotel and residential villas and penthouse.

Our values

Among the first companies in Italy to focus on the design of modular systems and the first company ever to create and offer a “system of hanging wall cabinets”, in recent years Former has chosen to go a step further: the individual parts are assembled to create equipped freestanding structures that allow the division and more flexible use of spaces.

This concept has led Former’s products to become an integral part of the organization and architecture of spaces thanks to their high level of innovation, the close attention paid to the engineering of products and to the craftsmanship of the work processes as tradition requires.
