This is Laminam.

We started from a profound knowledge of the methods, techniques and products in our original sector, to identify new paths. Knowledge gained in over forty years of the group we belong to, which has always stood out for its ability to innovate production technologies, processes, products and logistics in the ceramics industry. Laminam was founded in 2001 from an idea conceived by Ing. Franco Stefani, a trailblazer in the ceramics industry, who designed this product and created the production technologies needed to produce it. Our origin is the patent for the production technology for manufacturing large-sized, ultra-thin ceramic slabs, which in the early 2000s was a completely new product - ultra-thin ceramics - and gave a new impulse to this mature sector. From here, we began to imagine new and innovative uses for this material, exploiting its potential to the full, both in the conventional fields of application such as architecture and indoor and outdoor floor and wall tiling, and in new sectors, such as furnishing and technologies for generating energy from renewable sources. Today Laminam produces eclectic and versatile large-size ceramic surfaces used in many applications in traditional and advanced architecture, furnishing and design.


Laminam's highly automated production process is used to manufacture a revolutionary, large-size ceramic slab with a range of extremely flexible features and in a range of thicknesses. The majority of the technologies used by Laminam are produced by the System Group, which has always been a key player in the ceramics industry machinery sector. This guarantees Laminam access to experimental technologies and processes, offering the company a competitive advantage. Laminam's production process revolves around an exclusive compaction system to process clays and feldspars, which are highly selected and refined turning our materials into quartz through an industrial process. Among the other sophisticated technologies used in Laminam, refined slab decoration systems, low-consumption hybrid gas-electric kilns and dry cutting systems that reduce water consumption and purification costs. Energy and raw material recycling are the principles underlying our production system. Laminam produces exclusively in Italy, in its factory in Fiorano Modenese, in the heart of the province of Modena, and boasts highly sophisticated skills and professional talents in all areas of the company, from production to research.


At Laminam, product research and technological innovation aim to constantly improve architectural quality, and therefore the quality of life of the users. Ceramics have always been a precious material, thanks to their intrinsic features of resistance to fire, corrosive chemicals, heat and frost, as well as its hygiene and easy maintenance. This is why our slabs are the ultimate material for an infinite number of applications. Distinguished by a number of technological and productive innovations, the revolutionary Laminam ceramic slabs have broadened these features to reach new levels of product performance. The Laminam revolution began with its surfaces: creating ceramic slabs combining large size, reduced thickness and light weight with high resistance to mechanical stress, chemicals, wear, scratching, deep-down abrasion and bending. These large, perfectly flat slabs are obtained from a patented production process, and have paved the way for new and innovative ceramic applications. Broadening the fields of application has naturally required research into diversification, focusing particularly on thicknesses, textures and combinations, to satisfy all the plastic, mechanical and aesthetic demands of new productive stakeholders and end users. Also in terms of surface decorations, Laminam has introduced technological innovations, which ensure the durability of the features and colour properties of the slabs, which remain unchanged over time, even when exposed to the elements. In its research, Laminam continues to pay attention to the environment: natural raw materials, sustainable production technologies, 100% recyclable products. This is why Laminam is revolutionary: an eclectic surface, suited to a wide range of applications, both indoor and outdoor in many different fields, from conventional and advanced building to furnishing, from interior design to shipbuilding.

A truly innovative product, like the Laminam large ceramic surfaces, often poses problems of competence in its applications, above all in the building and furnishing sector. To tackle these shortcomings, Laminam has an internal division dedicated to providing consulting for architectural design of interior spaces and building envelopes.

Supporting all Laminam research and development projects is the pillar of social responsibility: for Laminam, innovating makes sense if the results of the research are sustainable, in a world in which resources are increasingly scarce and the problem of environmental impact of production activities is becoming increasingly serious. Natural raw materials, sustainable technologies (low energy consumptions, zero pollutant emissions, minimum CO2 emissions), fully recyclable products are the three pillars on which the Laminam eco-compatible approach is founded. Laminam is a member of the Green Building Council, the international sustainable building network: this means that its production processes emit only water vapour into the atmosphere; that production waste is reused in other applications, without exploiting more resources; and the characteristics of lightness and size of its products help to limit the environmental impacts of transport, compared to similar traditional products. Today, Laminam is proud to state that it has taken huge steps to limit its own carbon footprint: with a photovoltaic roof with an estimated capacity of 1.387 Gwh, it autonomously produces over 10 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources and prevents huge amounts of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
