How to choose this product
A sauna stove is indispensable for the proper functioning of the sauna. It heats volcanic rocks called kiuaskivi which can store heat and withstand great thermal shock. Some use ceramic or synthetic stones, instead. Regardless of their nature, once the rocks are hot water is poured over them to create a steam bath.
Stoves can be traditional wood or gas-fired versions, electric or infrared. They offer the option of combining the traditional Finnish sauna with steam, aromatic or other features. They are usually made of stainless steel and steatite, and often include digital controls and illumination.
How to choose
Choice will depend on energy source, including wood, gas, electric or infrared. Other factors include heating efficiency, installation and maintenance requirements, cost, hygienic characteristics and ease of use. The stove's output should correspond to the size of the sauna and the number of users.
