Baumit expansion joint profiles are:-
easy to use, PVC exterior expansion joint profiles with fibreglass mesh welded to it’s surface for strength
for providing a clean, weather tight expansion joint detail to insulation systems.
for creating the required detailing for fire breaks across party walls in insulations systems.
for using with all thin layer renders from Unger-Diffutherm, Baumit, etc.
Where is it used?
Expansion joint profiles provide a neat, weather tight expansion details or they can be used as part of a fire break and party wall detail.
They should be used with all of the wood fibre insulation systems where continuous facades of 18m or more are being constructed.
How is it used?
Expansion joint profiles should be installed prior to the main mesh.
There should be a continuous channel between the two facades of around 10mm to enable the insertion of the profile.
Install the profile and check that once in-situ a gap of at least 2mm will be maintained across the profile.
Remove the profile and apply a thin layer of render to the surface of the insulation boards.
Re-install the profile and trowel the mesh into the render and leave ready to apply the main mesh and render coat.
To maintain an even gap down the length of the profile, temporary spacers can be used such as strips of ply.
