Overview
Balian hand-painted ceramic border tiles, painted in Jerusalem in the Balian family workshop using traditional underglaze painting. Designed to run along a plain subway tile field and transform standard subway-tiled walls into personalized decorative bands.

Key Notes on Pricing
Prices are per tile. There is a $100 minimum order (plus shipping). Tiles are glazed ceramic and fired under the glaze so the color and finish are durable and wipe clean.

How Border Tiles Work With Subway Tile
A 6×3 in border equals the length of one 3×6 in subway tile, allowing a single course of borders to line up with a running-bond field without cuts. The 8×4 in suits 4×8 subway tile and larger walls; the 6×2 in is suitable as a pencil line between field tile and countertop or as trim around a niche.

How Many You Need (examples)

• Two 6×3 borders per linear foot — a 10 ft backsplash run needs 20 of the 6×3 in borders (20 × $10 = $200).
• Count 1.5 of the 8×4 borders per linear foot.
• Count two 6×2 borders per linear foot.
Always add one or two spare tiles for corner cuts.

Installation & Grout
Set and grout them exactly as you would field tile using the same thin-set. A grout matching the field tile will read the border as a continuous band; a darker grout will frame each tile.

Patterns & Customization
Seventeen standard border patterns are offered, each painted to order in the shown colors or in custom colors. Every border is painted to order; colors and custom patterns (from a photograph, emblem, or to continue an antique border) can be quoted and produced on request. Samples can be painted to match specified colors before committing to a run.
