OverviewGallery of real kitchen installations featuring hand-painted ceramic backsplash tiles by Balian (Armenian Ceramics). The page presents murals, repeating 6" x 6" (15 x 15 cm) pattern tiles, hand-decorated subway border tiles and individual accent tiles photographed in client kitchens. Many installations combine a central mural panel with subway border tiles and repeating field tiles across the remainder of the backsplash.
Production & MaterialsTiles are hand-painted in the Jerusalem studio and kiln-fired (glazed ceramic). Mural panels are painted tile by tile so the design continues across grout lines. Tiled countertops are created with the same ceramic tiles and matching border pieces; tiles are fired above 1000°C (approx. 1,832°F) for durability and permanent color.
Sizes & Tile Types- Mural tiles: standard mural panels typically made from 6" x 6" (15 cm) tiles arranged in groups (common mural counts: 9, 12, 15, 20 tiles depending on layout).
- Field / repeating tiles: 6" x 6" (15 cm) square tiles used as repeating patterns that read as texture from across the room.
- Subway border tiles: 8" x 4" (20 x 10 cm) subway tiles used as framing borders or bands across the wall.
- Accent tiles: single decorative 6" x 6" (15 cm) tiles placed sparingly across plain field tile.
Design Options & Examples- Murals and named designs shown in the gallery include: Tree of Life, Olive Tree of Jerusalem, Mirror Peacock, Chagall Peacock, Palm Tree and variations of floral, Persian and Square series repeats.
- Examples show murals centered behind ranges or cooktops, murals set as wider panels to span longer walls, murals combined with matching subway border tiles, and accent tiles scattered through plain field tile.
- Many kitchens show tiled countertops using the same hand-painted tiles and matching edge pieces for coordinated counters and backsplashes.
Pricing & Fulfillment (product information)- Mural hand-painted ceramic tiles: from $30 per hand-painted tile (price per tile; total mural cost depends on tile count).
- Hand-decorated subway border tiles: $10 each.
- Single 6" x 6" accent tiles: $20 each.
- Tiles are individually packed for transit; shipments are fulfilled internationally (including to the United States).
Use & MaintenanceGlazed ceramic tiles fired above 1000°C are non-porous, heat resistant and wipe-clean; suitable for areas behind cooktops and sinks. Hand-painted tiles retain color and are durable with ordinary cleaning.
Gallery & InspirationPhoto examples in the gallery demonstrate installation variations: framed mural panels, murals without borders set into plain field tile, repeating pattern fields, scattered accent tiles, and coordinated tiled countertops.
