SHIRVAN MARASALI PRAYER RUG. In the district of SHIRVAN innumerable prayer rugs were produced, those of Marasali are among the most beautiful. They have a typical ornaments in the field with the characteristic "flame boteh" Marasali that densely covers the fund in various colors. In this piece of MARASALI Prayer, from the so elegant knotting to seem a textile, dated 1796 (1211 of the Hijra), enigmatic "botehs", with a kind of crest of cock turns in alternate direction, stand out on the blue fund repeating themselves orderly and with detailed perfection in the typical diagonal lined up. Smaller ornamental patterns densely decorate the field. It is not a piece in perfect conservation but to collect fro its time-honoured age.
