half-turn staircase / straight / steel frame / stone steps
for commercial buildings, lateral stringer
Replacing a demolished staircase in a 5 storey stairwell is quite a manufacturing challenge when none of the walls or floors are plumb. Accurate measurements for the structural drawing are crucial.
Stairwells in older buildings are often tight, dark spaces; demolishing an existing staircase over multiple floors and creating a brief add a sense of space and light to the new staircase, the contractors turned to CANAL Architectural.
Taking great care over every measurement was crucial as none of the walls or floors were plumb; over 5 storeys this could have led to serious problems. The new staircase is built on a powder coated mild steel structure with pale limestone treads and a glass and stainless steel balustrade.
