stainless steel frame
An architect designed feature staircase with a structural challenge. Having no stringers, the stainless steel flights of stairs had to be fixed directly to the wall without a visible support structure.
Sometimes the simplest looking designer stairs can present some of the most difficult structural challenges. Stainless steel folded plate staircase flights appear to simply float from the wall with no stringers to support the inner edge.
CANAL worked with the architect and structural engineers to create the best solution to preserve the integrity of the design whilst making it safe and conform to building regulations. The staircase balustrade is a simple stainless steel spindle arrangement featuring a luxury leather clad timber handrail.
