Addressable systems work on a 2 wire loop system, each of the devices has an address and can reply back to the control panel giving its address and status. The control panel then analyses the data to establish the status of the device and can report devices as being normal, fault, pre-alarm and fire.
Linear beam smoke detection is developed for use in areas where point type detectors would be difficult to install and maintain.
Reflective: A transmitter and receiver are contained in one enclosure. The transmitter emits an invisible infrared beam, which is reflected back to the receiver by a prism mounted directly opposite and in clear line of sight.
End-to-end: comprises a transmitter which projects a modulated infrared beam across the protected area to a receiver, which in turn forwards a signal on to a control unit for analysis.
