The “LOGES” system is the result of internationally conducted research and is based on the concept by which the absence of natural guides is overcome wi-thout becoming a substitute for the ability of persons with impaired sight to analyse the sensory indications in the surrounding environment.LOGES is an acronym that means “Line of Orienta-tion, Guidance and Security”. It is a system formed by tactile paving surfaces with specially researched flu-ting and portions in relief designed to be sensed be-neath the feet but which are also visually contrasting. They allow people with impaired sight to “take their bearings and recognize places and sources of dan-ger”, as prescribed by the laws in force (Decree of the President of the Republic 503/1996, Ministerial Decree D.M. 236/1989, etc.)The system provides directional information and war-nings through four different channels:· proprioception and the plantar tactile sense· the manual tactile sense (using the white stick)· the hearing· chromatic contrast and luminance (for the partially sighted)
