Wind is an extremely cunning weather phenomenon; it not only hits surfaces and produces a lot of pressure, it also produces a second rather more treacherous effect. If the wind rebounds from a surface, turbulence is created that includes special suction effects. This effect acts much more powerfully on flat roof structures than pitched roofs. Germany is divided into four wind zones and, depending on the geographical location of the property, supplementary protection of clay roof tiles and concrete roof tiles can be mandatory. Of course, the mathematical calculation of required additional protection of clay roof tiles and concrete roof tiles – which may be requested by the insurance company for example – is part of the design of a roof.
There are various clips in the CREATON accessories for clay tile roofing to adequately protect the roof, even in high wind regions. Hook storm clips in aluminium or drive-in storm clips for even more robust protection are available in different variants. Special plain tile clips that make roofs storm resistant, even in the windiest regions, are available for plain tiles.
The clip is pushed underneath the batten and hooked onto it and then fastened in the side groove with the long leg. The lower left-hand tile is not shown here but should be covered beforehand.
The clip is driven into the carrier batten with the nail and attached in the side groove by the U-shaped leg.
