This cork small table represents the women called “VARINAS” from the lands of Var, now Ovar – a city in Portugal. In the past, they went by train to Porto and Lisbon with a wheel on the head, carrying the basket, to sell fish. The cork small table includes a felt wheel that supports the top and represents the artifact that facilitates the transport of the basket on the head. The wheel is a circular pillow made with hand-interlaced felt waste.
