The twin of DS-343 DS-344 is the twin of the armchair that reinvented sitting: same creators, same idea, just a little different in appearance. This version of the armchair, which protects the pelvis and back, uses leather in a thinner version: a sustainable raw material that we use for comfort. This makes the chair somewhat lighter, and its appearance and feel allow for further areas of application. 1. The armchair seat shell is extended to pelvic height. This ensures an ergonomic sitting posture. 2. If you lean backwards, only the upper part of the backrest moves backwards. This provides gentle support to the spine, and the chest opens automatically. This creates a liberating seating comfort. 3. In addition to the backrest, the seat shell automatically tilts backwards to achieve an even better lying and relaxing position. This innovative movement mechanism is patented. “SuperSeating” is the name of Bart Van der Heyden’s laboratory. And the Belgian knows what he is doing and what he is talking about. A physical therapist by training, he combines the findings of science and medicine with a wide variety of materials to fulfill his mission: to make sitting an even more pleasant experience. With DS-344, the smaller version of the DS-343 technical miracle, Van der Heyden used his “Dynamic Postural Stability” concept to develop an armchair in which the back element moves along with it from pelvic eight – without any mechanical effort, solely through the posture of the seated person, who holds him- or herself in a dynamic equilibrium accompanied by a feeling of weightlessness.
