Overview
The tunnel emergency handrail guidance system with integrated LED lighting is designed to improve orientation and safety in tunnels. It is the world’s first handrail able to accommodate up to three integrated LED strips, delivering clear orientation in emergencies and optimized illumination of escape routes and signage.

Design and functionality
The system comprises two profile components: a lower profile that houses a mounting bracket and a robust, fully protected LED strip to illuminate the escape route; and an upper profile that serves as the handrail and contains a second (Up-Light) and a third (Front-Light) LED strip to provide unambiguous orientation. The Up-Light is directed toward the tunnel wall and can illuminate wall signage; the Front-Light points toward the tunnel centre. All three options are used in crossing sections where emergency exits are located.

Lighting options

• Down-Light: optimum illumination of escape routes; LED strips meet at least the EU 1 lux requirement for train tunnels.
• Up & Front-Light: Up-Light illuminates the tunnel wall and signage; Front-Light illuminates the tunnel centre to improve overall visibility.
• Light on Sign: important signs are illuminated by LED strips integrated into the handrail.
