Designed by Johannes Potente in the late 1960s, the FSB 1003 embraces the horizontal geometry of the door itself. A favorite of Pritzker Prize-winner Gottfried Böhm, the handle features in signature buildings like the WDR Arcades in Cologne and the Central Library in Ulm. Jean Nouvel specified nearly 1,003 of them for the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac in Paris—proof of its sculptural presence and architectural appeal.
