Product overviewBasaltite® is a medium‑grey volcanic stone (leucotefrite) with leucite crystals set in a microcrystalline, compact matrix. Originating from lava flows of the Bolsena–Bagnoregio eruption centre, the material combines low porosity and mechanical properties suited to architectural use both indoors and outdoors.
Typology / Typical finishes- Filled and polished
- Filled and honed
- Brushed
- Bushammered
- Honed unfilled
- Polished unfilled
- Sandblasted
- Sawn / unpolished
Petrography and certificationClassified as leucotefrite, Basaltite® is heavy, compact and hard. Laboratory tests (UNI standards) report high compressive and flexural strength and impact resistance. Certificate: University of Pisa – Department of Structural Engineering, Report No. 364/00.
Use and applicationsHistorically used for significant buildings and urban works, Basaltite® is suitable for a wide range of architectural applications thanks to its hardness, natural slip resistance and frost/heat resistance.
- Interior flooring
- Wall cladding and staircases
- Exterior paving and gardens
- Bathroom design
- Kitchen surfaces
- Artistic and sculptural works
