TECDUR enhanced security glazing is a range of composite security products which combine the mechanical strength of polycarbonate with the abrasion resistance of glass. The glass and polycarbonate layers are bonded using a proprietary resin laminating system. The resin laminating system achieves a strong, durable, bond between glass, resin and polycarbonate which is capable of resisting the large differential in coefficient of thermal expansion between these materials. This strong bond significantly increases the durability of the product and allows polycarbonate to be clad on one side only if required. The TECDUR range provides solutions for manual attack, ballistic and blast threats Independent accreditation has been achieved at various levels of manual attack resistance (BRE LPS1175 / LPS1270 levels SR 2,3,4,5&6) and at all levels of EN1063 in regard to bullet resistance. The combination of an enhanced toughened glass surface bonded to an appropriate polycarbonate layer provides a composite vision panel with high resistance to manual attack (blunt blow) particularly suitable in detention centre applications. TECDUR has now been specified and installed in a number of Prisons, Young Offenders Centres Mental Institutions and commercial projects throughout the UK. The combination of float glass bonded to either side of a polycarbonate core results in a product which provides superb resistance to penetration from repeated sharp blows e.g. axe attack, particularly when compared with traditional security glasses / films. The float glass layer generally only suffers localised damage and remains firmly bonded to the resin layer.
