OverviewPLANITHERM® NEO is a higher-performance low-emissivity glass designed for use in both double-glazed and triple-glazed insulating units. The coating is optimised to reduce external reflection while increasing visible light transmission, supporting daylighting and energy-efficient window and door systems.
Range- Annealed and toughened: single-stock coated product suitable for use in annealed or heat-treated (toughened) form; heat treatment in accordance with applicable standards (e.g., BS EN 12150) where required.
- Laminated: compatible with STADIP® laminated glass constructions for enhanced safety and acoustic performance.
Benefits- Thermal insulation: Engineered to deliver centre-pane U-values around 1.0 W/m²·K in typical double-glazed units (DGU) and down to 0.5 W/m²·K in optimised triple-glazed units (TGU) with argon fill.
- Solar performance: Solar factor (g-value) optimised (54% for DGU with 90% argon), enabling improved energy ratings under window and door assessment schemes.
- Daylight and reflection: New surface coating provides higher visible light transmission (~73% DGU) and reduced external reflection (~20% DGU) versus previous generations.
- Environmental profile: Produced on PLANICLEAR® lower-carbon clear float glass (EPD-verified) with manufacturing processes that reuse cullet.
Applications- New residential windows and doors
- Residential replacement and renovation glazing
- Larger domestic glazed elements (sliding doors, bi-fold, French doors)
- Non-residential and commercial building façades and fenestration
Performance (summary)Representative performance values (calculated per EN 673 / EN 410 as applicable) for standard unit examples are given for specification and selection.
Technical table (key values by unit type)Double-glazed unit (DGU) example 4(16)4: Light transmittance (T_L) 73% | External reflectance (R_Le) 20% | Internal reflectance (R_Li) 20% | Solar energy transmittance (T_e) 48% | External solar reflectance (R_ee) 38% | Solar factor g-value (Argon 90%) 54% | Centre-pane U-value (Argon 90%) 1.0 W/m²·K
Triple-glazed unit (TGU) example 4(12)4(12)4: Light transmittance ~59% | External reflectance ~27% | Solar energy transmittance ~34% | Solar factor g-value ~42% | Centre-pane U-value (Argon 90%) ~0.7 W/m²·K
Triple-glazed unit (TGU) example 4(16)4(16)4: Light transmittance ~60% | External reflectance ~27% | Solar energy transmittance ~35% | Solar factor g-value ~43% | Centre-pane U-value (Argon 90%) 0.5 W/m²·K
Processing and handling notesPLANITHERM® NEO is supplied as a single-stock coated product and must be used in insulating glass units with the coating positioned towards the inside of the cavity (not intended for single-glazing use). It can be toughened or laminated and should be processed following standard industry handling and tempering guidelines.
References and notesHigh-performance low-e coatings achieve emissivity levels of 3% or less. Performance data are calculated (e.g., using Calumen) and are correct at the time of publication but may change. Images and example units are illustrative only.
