With a clear inspiration of the surrealistic art, Finn Juhl designed The Poet Sofa in 1941. The sofa was one of his experiments designed for use in his own house, but cabinetmaker Niels Vodder also presented the sofa at the Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition the same year. First in 1959 the sofa got it’s nickname ”The Poet” – when it appeared in a romantic Danish film called ”The Poet and his Wife”.
