Solid bamboo walls give a room a pleasant and warm look. The bamboo walls have, just like many other Derako walls, very good acoustic characteristics. To improve these acoustic characteristics even further the spaces between the bamboo slats can be fitted with an acoustic non-woven tissue. The bamboo used on the walls is available in four different colours: DT neutral, DT caramel, SP neutral and SP caramel.
This Derako bamboo cladding is unique in its kind and combines the sustainable and high quality MOSO bamboo slats with the innovative Derako system. By using Moso Bamboo X-treme within the Derako system, it is now also possible to process solid bamboo without nailing, screwing or drilling. The cladding is easy to assemble and needs no maintenance from a technical point of view.
Walls fitted with solid bamboo are extremely sustainable. Bamboo walls are just as durable as walls fitted with tropical hardwood. Did you know that the Maozhu (Moso) bamboo, that is used in the Derako MOSO wall system, is the fastest growing plant in the world? Within a few months the bamboo stems reach a height of up to 20 meters. Because of the high growth rate the bamboo plant absorbs a large amount of CO2 during growth. After 4 or 5 years the bamboo stem turns into wood and then gets its final characteristics, and as far as hardness and stability are concerned starts to look very much like hardwood.
The growth rate is in stark contrast to that of various hardwoods, which often take more than fifty years before they are ready to be chopped down and therefore are also becoming scarcer and more expensive.
