Regarding power consumption and brightness light emitting diodes (LED) are a substantial alternative of traditional light sources, such as bulbs or fluorescent tubes. The new organic light emitting diodes (OLED), representing the next generation, again have advanced light sources towards large-area lighting and higher energy efficiency. Now, luminous elements of increasing sizes and all-time unattained colours and designs can be realized. OLED will open new design opportunities in various fields, such as architecture, interior design, visual advertising, automotive and maritime engineering. INGLAS is a driving leader of this new technology: The integration of the OLED elements in laminated glass panes or laminated plastic sheets guarantees the essential qualification for electrical wiring, usability and life time stability. The figured "OLED Table" designed by Ingo Maurer (www.ingo-maurer.com) produced high interest at the "Design Week" in Milan, the "Light and Building" in Frankfurt, and further exhibitions in New York and Tokyo. The "OLED Table" is based on INGLAS lamination technology and on OLED production of Merck OLED Materials GmbH (www.merck-oled.de).
