Description

Overview
Used as a pre-treatment before installation of Passive Purple®, Airtight White® & Passive Purple® External. Primer I.M is a multi-use primer designed for dense substrates and retrofit projects. Its small molecules enter deeply into substrates to consolidate and prime, allowing water-dispersion coatings to be applied over the top.

Key Benefits
  • Pre-treatment peace of mind
  • Consolidates and closes off difficult dense porous substrates
  • High vapour permeability allows the coating to accommodate subtle movements without cracking
  • Works in unison with air & vapour control membranes to provide a high-grab base for coatings

How it differs from Lime Prime
Primer I.M has a much smaller molecular structure and is a microemulsion that penetrates deeply into dense substrates to consolidate as well as prime. It is not suitable for render or very porous concrete block where it has little or no effect; for bare, dusty, porous or highly lime substrates use Lime Prime instead.

Primer I.M for retrofit
Retrofit walls are often dense, sealed, previously painted or moving. Primer I.M is formulated for these tougher, dense substrates to consolidate the surface and provide a sound, high-grab base for products such as Passive Purple, Airtight White and Passive Purple External. Its flexibility and vapour permeability help older buildings move without cracking, supporting a durable retrofit airtight layer.

Application
Apply Primer I.M by a low-pressure or airless spray or with roller application. Typical application: one layer at approximately 100 g/m2 (depending on substrate porosity).

Recommended substrates / uses
  • Older / dusty substrates
  • Dense or sealed substrates such as concrete bricks
  • Calcium silicate stone
  • Old lime surfaces that require consolidation before coating

Technical specifications
  • Pack size: 10 kg (spray/roller)
  • Form: microemulsion (small molecular structure that penetrates dense substrates)
  • Application method: low-pressure or airless spray; can be roller applied
  • Typical application rate: ~100 g/m2 per single coat (varies with substrate porosity)
  • Primary use: consolidation and priming of dense substrates prior to water-dispersion coatings
  • Suitable substrates: concrete bricks, calcium silicate stone, old lime and other dense or dusty retrofit surfaces
  • Not recommended for: render or very porous concrete block (use Lime Prime for those)
  • Compatibility: designed to work with air & vapour control membranes and coatings such as Passive Purple and Airtight White
  • Performance: high vapour permeability and flexibility to accommodate subtle substrate movement
