Contemporary bench PORTSMOUTH

Barber Osgerby were approached with a commission to design new choir stalls for Portsmouth Cathedral in 2003. They wanted to produce something that did not appear either too traditional or too contemporary but, would contrast and complement the architecture. A number of prototypes were tested with Isokon Plus and the resulting bench is a slim and elegant, yet strong oak bench to seat two or three choir members which is easily moveable. The bench was also produced without a back.
