Description

The Green Facade of Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac has become a piece of art since 2004 within the Parisian architecture. Created by Atelier Nouvel, the original creation of Patrick Blanc had to undergo a restoration more than a decade later. The entire facade has been redesigned with the main objective of strengthening the thermal and acoustic insulation of the building. Patented solution under professional technical certification, the vegetated insulation solution imagined and implemented by Jardins de Babylone has been developed by the Parisian team. In addition to traditional external wall insulation with rockwool, Jardins de Babylone has developed an insulation reinforcement system, both thermal and waterproof. The new facade of 730 sqm will host about 22 000 plants and 376 different species. After the first phase consisting of removal and reinstallation of the brand new facade completed in October, the remaining part and the irrigation system will continue from March 2018, for a completion of the whole project as of June 8, 2018, giving back its magnificence to the Museum.
