The IGNIO charring process is a specialized technique that allows our clients to choose different variations that lend a unique appearance to their designs.
• Type of Wood:
The woods that best suit this process are spruce, pine, larch, thermally-treated wood, and oak.
All our woods are PEFC certified.
The wood thickness ranges from 18-21 mm nominal, with other dimensions available upon request.
• Charring Intensity:
The charred outcome (achieved at over 200ºC) can vary depending on the wood used and the intended purpose. Charring intensity ranges from a light surface pass to an intense 'crocodile skin' char.
• Wood Texture:
The surface finish can be achieved through brushing with steel or nylon, or left unbrushed if desired.
• Surface Finishes:
IGNIO can be accompanied by additional finishes, such as oil-based finishes (with micro-pigment protection), stains, varnishes, or even fire-resistant treatments to meet Bs1D0 certification standards.
