Designed in 1930, the Barcelona Couch shares the same simple elegance as the iconic lounge chair of the same name. Mies van der Rohe's command of line and material in all medium, from architecture to furniture, helped define the modern vocabulary. FEATURES A signature KnollStudio design, produced to Mies' original specifications. Exclusive manufacturing and sales rights were accorded to Knoll by the designer in 1953. The KnollStudio logo and the signature of Mies van der Rohe are stamped into the base of each couch. CONSTRUCTION Hardwood frame with protective, clear lacquer finish. The legs are constructed of tubular steel with polished stainless steel finish. 72 individual leather panels are cut, hand-welted and hand-tufted, and panels and buttons are crafted from a single hide. FINISHES Available in a wide range of Spinneybeck leathers. This product is available with foam that meets requirements for BS5852. AWARDS Museum of Modern Art Award, 1977. CONSTRUCTION Ash hardwood frame, walnut painted. 11 thick cowhide straps. The legs are tubular steel in polished chrome finish. 72 individual panels are cut hand-welted and hand-tufted with leather and buttons. Cushions are fire retardant foam covered with polyester fiberfills to enhance comfort and upholstered with top quality leather only. Bolster in matching leather can be loose or secured to cushion platform with a strap. FINISHES Available in a wide range of leathers.
