Overview To architect and sculptor Jonathan Muecke, material is elemental, repetition is clarity, and logic is freedom. In his first commercial collaboration with Knoll, Muecke applies the principles of his practice to an all-wood dining collection that reads with the familiarity of a kitchen table and chairs. “I like to take things for what they are and not try to imagine what someone intended them to be,” says Muecke. The collection emphasizes simple, generous forms and coherent joinery.
Features Material drives the design: wood is chosen for its commonality and warmth, and for its visible grain. Muecke developed an extensive series of hand-built prototypes to define the collection’s distinct joinery, then repeated those solutions across pieces. The approach seeks stabilizing repetition and a minimal set of decisions in each object.
Construction Frame crafted from solid wood. Tabletop composed of particleboard with a sliced veneer overlay that matches the frame finish, producing a unified visual surface while optimizing structural stability.
