Overview
The Saarinen pedestal collection for Knoll comprises the round tables and chairs originally designed in 1957, now reissued at an archival lounge height for contemporary interiors. The round lounge tables are available in two diameters (91 cm and 107 cm) with a lounge-height top listed at approximately 64/65 cm.

Construction
The base is the original Saarinen moulded-cast aluminium design, finished with a protective Rilsan coating in black or white. The tabletop options include marble, laminate, lacquer, veneer and acrylic stone (for outdoor use).

Finishes
The base is available in black or white. Marble tops with glossy coating receive a transparent, high-polish polyester finish to reduce staining; despite this protection, coated marbles are not recommended for permanent outdoor use. Marble veining, color and natural marks vary from piece to piece and may change appearance over time.

Product Story
Eero Saarinen developed the pedestal concept to eliminate the "slum of legs" beneath tables and chairs. Through drawings, scale models and full-size prototypes, Saarinen and Knoll refined the design to produce the sculptural pedestal tables that remain archetypal in modern design.
