Doily was designed in reference to one of groundbreaking multimedia artist Nick Cave’s Soundsuits in which he enlists everyday materials and techniques including vintage doilies, multicolored beads, and embroidery to create layered sociopolitical representations. Designed in close collaboration with Cave, Doily’s intricate surface combines mechanical and hand-guided embroidery techniques to reflect the artist’s unique material language.
