· Costanza has been updated. The classic shaded lamp that can be seen in signature interiors and everyday living rooms is the first major success for Luceplan designed by Paolo Rizzatto. It is still surprising thanks to its innovative solutions: the sensory touch dimmer, the self-supporting shade made with a very thin sheet of polycarbonate, and the flat packaging (a Luceplan trademark). Designing things also means not being afraid to take new risks, treating even the most successful creations as works in progress. The new chromatic approach takes the form of two shade collections, Mezzo Tono and Radieuse, each with five colour variations to bring out the qualities of the matte surfaces. Matching the versatility of the original design, the new shades have been conceived for all the Costanza and Costanzina models (table, floor, wall, ceiling, suspension) and are joined by a new Off White finish for the structures. The new chromatic approach of Costanza has been generated by a combination of aesthetic and technological research, concentrating on the fine tuning of perceptions, but also on industrial innovation. In the end, this reflects the intriguing paradox of Costanza: a lamp that looks fragile though it is very solid, that seems normal even though it is extraordinary, and changes when it already seemed to be perfect.
