Description

To guarantee that the consumers know precisely the energy efficiency of the lamps they buy, as well as that of the luminaries with their associated components, all electric lamps and luminaries for domestic use that are commercialized at a point of sale must incorporate appropriate energy classification labelling on the outer part of the individual packaging in accordance with Regulation 874/2012. The suppliers, the distributors and any point of sales of lamps and luminaries must facilitate said information and indicate the class of energy efficiency,as the same as electronic appliances, the consumers can be informed as to the compatibility of the luminaries with different lamps. Energy efficiency is determined based on the power consumption (luminous flux, units: lumen) per watt consumed. (Lamps with a luminous flux < 30 lumen and lamps whose primary purpose is not lighting are excluded from the directive). This new label should inform the consumer about the efficiency and power consumption of the bulb (power consumed - luminous flux) that can choose among various lamps alike. The energy efficiency labels, as well as specify the compatibility between luminaries and bulbs with different energy efficiency classes (A++, A+, A, B, C, D o E), must reflect the power consumption expressed in kWh per 1000hours. This information about lighting is to ensure that consumers are aware of their energy efficiency, and MANTRA recommends that before purchasing a lighting fixture identify its role: "A lighting fixture can be designed for illuminate, to signal, to indicate or for decoration.
