The Greensand Ridge is a prominent escarpment that runs along the South Downs. It is a shallow marine sediment made of sand or sandstone with a greenish hue. An olive green sits at its core with equal parts of brown and green. The subtle green undertone is created by blending ochre and black with the tiniest hint of natural oxide red, with no green pigment at all.
