Hug by Cristián Mohaded for Meritalia® is an architectural seating system composed of intentionally heterogeneous sections. Checkerboard-shaped modules form and decorate the seats, highlighting a deliberate contrast in textures and colors. The collection includes a sofa and an armchair configured from three alternating checkerboard modules arranged in an elegant square composition. The soft backrest extends and narrows to become an integrated armrest.
Design concept
Beyond the ergonomics of a Meritalia® upholstered seat, Hug explores emotional contrasts: textured surfaces alternate with smooth fabric panels, and neutral tones alternate with brighter hues. This interplay creates a measured rhythm and a visual tension that reflects Meritalia®’s technical and artisanal evolution, suitable for contemporary residential and contract interiors.
