After the worldwide success of Scrapwood Wallpaper, Piet Hein Eek and NLXL introduce “Materials”, comprising 8 contemporary designs. Again this collection creates a magnificent trompe l’oeil effect. Rick Vintage, Creative Director NLXL: “This new collection emphasizes our traditional way of working together with Piet Hein Eek. We have reproduced everyday materials, like stone, wood and marble. We are certain that this new collection will find its way to both consumers and projects all over the world.” Piet Hein Eek: “A lot of companies have made marble reproduction products, but never in the way we envisioned it. So we decided to give it a try. When the printing proofs came in we had the exact same thrill as we had five years earlier with the Scrapwood Wallpaper. You just want to install it everywhere.” Also in the new collection: a blue Scrapwood wallpaper and simple brick. “People ask me for a blue wallpaper all the time, so when these blue planks came in at the workshop I knew we had to do it” says Eek. “In my factory in the Netherlands we have a lot of brick walls. Not the nice New York exposed brick kind, but the ugly kind. We decided to simply paint them black. I think this will look fantastic in any space.
