The Be Grateful Wall Paper collection takes you on a journey through different landscapes and cultures, to oriental countries such as China and the fishing nets used by fishermen in Quanzhou, which inspired the 'Fields' pattern. For this collection, warm and bright colours have been chosen, enriched by metallic details. Called 'Cheena Vala' in the local language, in practice they are hoisting nets, fixed land-fishing installations on which six fishermen work on each. The structures are about 10 metres high with a horizontal net of about 20 metres square, a sort of "hammock" stretched out and suspended over the sea that can be easily lowered into the water by means of a counterweight at the other end. In use for over 500 years, these oversized fishing nets have become a popular tourist attraction over the years. Their size and elegant construction are photogenic and the slow pace of their operation makes them mesmerising. Sunrise and sunset are the best times to see Chinese fishing nets at work, in use on the south coast of China in Quanzhou 泉州, Indochina.
