Wheel chocks keep trucks in exactly the right place in the loading bay. Since the help provided by a standard truck wheel chock is very limited, however, electronic wheel chocks with connections to door and loading ramp are used. The loading ramp cannot be operated until the chock is engaged on the wheel. A position sensor in the wheel chock ensures correct usage. Linking the chock to a traffic light system that provides current status information to both truck driver and loading crew is recommended.
