OMA's AC1 Loudspeaker system might be summarized as "back to the future.
Imagine a parallel universe, where things are still made of solid, real materials with superb craftsmanship. In this world, loudspeakers are not reduced to an assembly of ever smaller drivers, but designed to maximize sound quality. All design is focused in this alternative world on how to make the best sounding speaker, and the most beautiful too, instead of the smallest, cheapest and highest profit product.
Alas, this is not the world we currently live in. But OMA's AC1 Loudspeaker is not a piece of science fiction. This three way floor standing loudspeaker is probably unique in being constructed almost entirely out of solid Pennsylvania hardwood -walnut, cherry or ash. It is completely hand built, and hand finished. It uses an extremely efficient 15" woofer, instead of asking numerous smaller woofers to work that much harder. It uses a vintage compression driver made by RCA for actual movie theaters for the midrange, because nothing made today sounds as good. It uses the most high tech, best engineered ribbon tweeter made today, also horn loaded. It is made to operate continuously without failure as the theater systems of the past. In short, no compromises were made on the design or construction of this loudspeaker, except for its size. The speaker's footprint is only 20" deep, and 30" wide.
Height 82"
Max horn width 29"
Max horn depth 32"
