OverviewPilkington Profilit™ is a translucent linear channel glass system formed as U-shaped alkali-cast glass produced by machine rolling (EN 572, Part 7). It admits daylight while maintaining limited visibility and is available with smooth or patterned external surfaces and a range of fitting options for façades, walls and roofs.
Key product descriptionPilkington Profilit™ is suitable for single- or double-shell installations and for triple/multiple glazing arrangements (e.g. “one in 2”, “2 plus one”) with Pilkington Profilit™ “low-e plus” coatings for improved thermal performance. Typical multi-glazed U-values range from 1.2 W/m²K down to 0.61 W/m²K; g-values can be reduced below 0.2 with appropriate coatings. Acoustic performance can reach up to Rw 57 dB depending on construction.
Features & Benefits- High light diffusion with reduced outward visibility.
- Effective sound reduction in suitable configurations.
- Vertical or horizontal installation in single or double shell.
- Available for large curtain-wall sizes and curved walls.
- Rapid maintenance and straightforward replacement of units.
- Options for thermal insulation and solar control coatings (low-e).
- Available thermally toughened (T) and can be supplied with Heat Soak Test.
- Multiple textures, dimensions and colour/enamel options; custom sandblasting or patterned ceramic enamels possible.
ApplicationsPilkington Profilit™ is developed for external façades, walls and roofs and for internal glazing where daylight is required but direct visibility must be limited — commercial, industrial, institutional and residential architecture. It also creates specific lighting effects with artificial interior illumination.
Sports centre applicationsFor ball-impact glazing in sports centres, select the double-skin special profiles Pilkington Profilit™ K22/60/7, K25/60/7 or K32/60/7, used without wires and meeting ball impact requirements per DIN 18032‑3. Consider specific application requirements for such installations.
