Overview
Marble tumbling is a mechanical stone finishing process using rotating cylindrical tumblers and abrasive media to produce a smooth, satin or matte, naturally aged appearance. The process softens edges, removes surface irregularities and yields a consistent antiqued look suitable for architectural and decorative elements.

Technique / How it is achieved
Pieces are placed in rotating tumblers with abrasives such as sand or ceramic granules. Rotation causes impacts between pieces and abrasives, smoothing surfaces and rounding edges. Cycle duration and abrasive selection control the degree of finish, surface homogeneity and edge rounding.
