Insulating Firebricks are whitish in color and light weight. They are made of mullite, a product of aluminum and silicate after exposure of refractory clay in high temperature. Depending on the density and the refractoriness they are classified as JM23, JM26, JM28, JM30, JM32. Insulating fire bricks (IFBs) are porous light weight firebricks that endure in continuous use temperatures as the maximum continuous use temperature depends on the application. JM’s are mostly used in refractories industries and home appliance industry as well. They are insulating fire bricks that resist in extreme temperatures ideal for the insulation of kilns, doors, pizza ovens etc. They can be easily cut by handheld hack saw or other hand tools like chisel. Insulating firebricks have high porous rate and have excellent insulating properties, Each type is formulated to meet specific thermal and physical requirements and after firing, each type is machined to precise tolerances.
