Vulyk lamp is a hive of light inspired by childhood memories. When Serhii Makhno was a kid, his favorite trips were the ones to the village with a small clay-walled hut hidden among the curly woods, and granny sitting on the bench. In the garden, there were wooden behives with thatch roofs. They were coated in the buzzing and the smell of red-ripe apples. Serhii thought that bees were granny’s neighbors — so she was never alone. Vulyk is a plump ceramic lamp, embosomed with the soft curves. Two “ears” add drama, making the lamp look like the small floating hives. “Inside Vulyk lamps, there is my childhood. Sometimes when sitting under them, I still feel the familiar honey odor. And I am grateful there is a way to create things that will remind me of that. Look at them.
