STEPEVI has collaborated with the Isparta Municipality in the south of Turkey, synonymous with traditional carpet weaving and where the STEPEVI factory is located, to upcycle existing woven carpets by using them to create floor cushions. Each completely unique piece is entirely hand made by women who want to re-join the work force. This project co-created by STEPEVI and Isparta Municipality offers employment opportunities for women while exploring new ways to use traditional weaving in contemporary design settings all the while prioritizing sustainability principles.
